“Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” Some
distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged
Jesus,
“If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.” He said to them,
“Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs,
and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in
the water. |

3. DEAD GIRL |
When Jesus entered the
synagogue leader’s house and saw the noisy crowd and people playing

of this spread through all that region. |

MAN |
When Jesus stepped
ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long
time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in
the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet,
shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son
of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!” For Jesus had
commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had
seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under
guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into
solitary places.
Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,”
he replied, because many demons had gone into him. And they begged Jesus
repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. A large herd of pigs
was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them
go into the pigs, and he gave them permission. When the demons came out
of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep
bank into the lake and was drowned. |

wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and
Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the
wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
“Woman, why do you involve me?”
Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His
mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Nearby stood
six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing,
each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus said to the
servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they
filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw
some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so.
